2020-2021 Program Year Postponed

| Uncategorized

A group of Leadership Birmingham board members and alumni met last week to discuss the launch of our next Leadership Birmingham class. They considered a number of issues including personal safety and health, program quality, space availability, and uncertainty remaining around the fall COVID case count. After deep discussion, we unanimously made the tough decision of postponing the class launch until September, 2021.

You know that Leadership Birmingham provides class members with an intense, in-person experience that enables a diverse group of people to connect deeply and meaningfully over critical issues. We are convinced that hosting a shortened or virtual program year now would diminish that experience for a new class of leaders.

The best news is this: the postponement of this year’s class gives us an unique opportunity for Leadership Birmingham to engage in innovative and impactful programming with you and the broader community. We are all facing a time of incredible stress. We need strong and skilled leaders who support each other, who better understand each other, and who work together to make a more equitable Greater Birmingham. This organization is uniquely positioned to help with that.

You made our recent Moving Forward virtual conversations about systemic racism “standing room” only, and we know you want to do more. You play a critical role in defining how we unite and connect our network and beyond to strengthen our Greater Birmingham community in this time of great stress and uncertainty.
