Leadership Birmingham nominations are accepted year-round. Nominees submitted by February 1st will be invited to apply for the upcoming program year that begins in September.
Leadership Birmingham class members are selected based on their leadership abilities, career accomplishments, volunteer activities, contributions to the community, and commitment to help shape a better Greater Birmingham. Because the program is limited in size, many qualified individuals must be deferred. Those not accepted in a given year have the opportunity to be considered for the subsequent year.
Candidates for nomination should:
- Demonstrate a commitment to community through past and present activities
- Demonstrate leadership ability in his/her chosen field through significant achievement
- Possess the potential for exercising substantial leadership in the future
- Exhibit a personal commitment to help shape the future of the Birmingham region
Self-nominations are encouraged. After the nomination period has closed, nominees will receive instructions on submitting the online application to Leadership Birmingham. All applications are carefully reviewed by a group of Leadership Birmingham alumni that is charged with the difficult task of selecting a representative cross-section of leaders for the upcoming class. We encourage you to first have a conversation with the individual before nominating them for Leadership Birmingham.
